A future role for Yifei?

Hi,

Wan Mei has given me permission to post about a possible future role for Yifei!

The film is called "East Wind, Rain" and herewith excerpts from Wan Mei's findings:

Plot known so far
The film is loosely based on the events in 1941 and the real life Chi Bu Zhou who was one of the first people to cracked JN-25, the code used by the Japanese during World War 2. The plot appeared to be centered on the protagonist (who was cast as a pianist in the film) and his dealings with the murky world of spies from all over the world in the melting-pot city of Shanghai and his relationship with a beautiful singer (lead actress) who is actually a spy of unknown allegiance…

The Producers
Shanghai Media Group which produce the movie when the intention of releasing it internationally. The budget is US $30 million, so far they have secured US $15 million of funds.

TV director-actor Liu Yunlong, the top scorer in the history of Beijing Film Academy (Yifei’s alma mater) will direct and star in the film himself.

Hmm, are they serious about Yifei?
The role is either opened to any pan-Asian actress. However, the producers have now come up with a list of thirty acceptable actresses from China, Korea, Taiwan, Japan and Singapore for the lead female.

To decide who would be the lead actress they would do three rounds of polling to give Internet users a chance to pick their favorite (50% weight) and offer the role to her first.

The list included Zhang Ziyi, Eva Huang, Li Bingbing, Fann Wong, Jeon Ji Hyun, Song Hye Kyo, Son Ye Jin and Toda Erika among others.

At the time of posting with nearly 11000 votes, Liu Yifei is #1 choice, having gathered nearly 21% of the total votes.

Quick summary:
For those who have difficulty understanding the plot I outlined above, you might want to think of it as a Chinese version of the Hollywood classic, Casablanca (IMDB Top 10 movie: #10)

Filming to start at end of this year in Shanghai and general cinema release on Oct 1 2009 (China National Day).

Thanks again to Wan Mei for sharing the above findings!

I'll just add that Shu Qi is also in the "list of thirty acceptable actresses."

Wan Mei found high resolution photos of Yifei

...and they are simply amazing!!!!

Wan Mei comments:

The resolution is so high that you can spot the dirt and fallen hair on the red carpet!

See Yifei sweat glistering under the California summer sun.

Would the close-up of Yifei's face withstand the scrutiny of fans for (im)perfections in her facial features?

Just how good is the texture of her skin really is?

Click on the thumbnails above for more full size images to find out :D

Perhaps good enough to print out as posters to the envy of your friends :P

Saw these in liuyifei.org in addition to a few other sites.

However the original source is unknown (possibly leak by a professional photographer at the event)

Mega(pixel) thanks to Wan Mei for sharing his find!!!!!!

Liu Yifei and Z'Dorzi 2008 Female Fashion

Wan Mei shares the following fashion related news plus pics!!!

In November 2007, Yifei became spokeswoman for z'dorzi, a female fashion label based in Hong Kong. Her contract is for the 2008 Spring and Summer line of fashion.

The photos above are from the 2007 Press Conference of her appointment as spokeswoman for the label

To see how Yifei's image is being used to advertise this label look at photos of this z'dorzi shop in China on July 18, 2008 :P

The images from above are taken from the official z'dorzi site which also feature other images and music of Yifei, including an electronic (Flash-based) catalogue of its products.

However, the site load rather slowly and is in Chinese language only (for the moment).

Yifei at a Harper's Bazaar China event on May 29, 2008

Hi, dearlady found two pics of Yifei:

Photo credit: Sina dearlady also posted the following:

Wan Mei shares the following [excerpt]:

Just to clarify that these photos when taken on May 29 2008 [..]

This is the same event where Yifei broke down in tears when talking about the earthquake victims.

The gentleman you see speaking to Yifei is the president of Fashion Group which own the local edition of Harper's Bazaar in China.

Thanks to Wan Mei and dearlady!!

UPDATE Wan Mei adds:

I forgot to mention that there will be a Harper Bazaar charity night event on Aug 22, 2008 and those who have made the cover of Bazaar magazine in China (e.g. Yifei) are invited.

I think I have mentioned this before, but the amount raised by the event that night on May by celebrities like Yifei and Chen Kun raised 2,170,000 yuan for earthquake victims.

According to Harper Bazaar China, since establishing in 2003, they have raised more than 15 million yuan for charity and aid including that night on May 2008.

Was directed to this amazing speed recorded drawing of Yifei by A. Gallou who originally have no idea of who she is and titled his creation 'A Japanese Girl'

After I leave a comment for him with video link, Mr Gallou has graciously edited his description

Yifei is a lady of her word

I found these pics uploaded by francesca:

[Pic credit: Mingpao newspaper (HK)]

I was actually wondering whether they were new or perhaps kinda new, so held off posting.

Guess who came to my rescue?

2 words: Wan Mei!!

Wan Mei confirmed that they are kinda new; circa March 28, 2008;

Those are exactly the same pictures taken by Mingpao newspaper (HK) photographers at their interview of Yifei posted on their website on 28 March 2008.

The camera used is a Nikon D200.

http://ol.mingpao.com/cfm/Archive1.cfm?File=20080328/sac02/mcl1.txt

The interview is conducted following Yifei's arrived at Hong Kong on the night of March 16, 2008.

Note that Yifei did fulfilled the words she spoke at the interview in March: 'If (events in) society or a charity event required my involvement, time permitting, I am willing to serve and contribute.'

Yifei is a lady of her word!

Yifei in a Beijing Olympics TV promo!

MOjje found a YouTube vid of Yifei in a Beijing Olympics TV promo!

Wan Mei found a ''behind the scenes'' pic at the filming of aforementioned vid!

Thanks to MOjje & Wan Mei!

Yifei chatted with fans till 2 AM Pacific Time!!

Wan Mei tell me it's alright to share the following:

Yifei has post a new message at yifei.org after the Hancock premier. She chat with fans until after 2am California time even though the system was lagged to death (I couldn't get in even though I tried many times). Most of them didn't realize Yifei was at the Hancock premier until she went offline even though she wrote that she is in Los Angeles.

Yep, Yifei chatted with fans till 2 AM Pacific Time!!! Name me another celeb that does that..heh!!

More insights from Wan Mei:

Yifei is the only Chinese artiste at the Hancock Hollywood premier (attendance is by invitation only).

Apparently there is a press flyer at the premier comparing Yifei to Hillary Duff and called Yifei "a true global beauty"

Alrighty then, another set of pics found and uploaded by Wan Mei:
